If you are interested in watching some opera on TV while we are still in lock-down, Judy Gurlitz informed me, that on Tuesdays at 3pm, Great Performances is shown on the PBS Explorer Channel (36). The next opera will be "The Exterminating Angel" by Thomas Ades. If for some reason you cannot receive the EX channel 36, you may have to contact UNC-TV to find out why. You can either e-mail: viewer@unctv.org or call 1-888-292-7070.
Hope this is helpful. Y'all stay well,ya hear! Cheers, Ingrid B. Descriptions of remaining virtual classes

Schedule: All classes are held on Wednesdays 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM April 22, 2020: Presidential Investigations through History. April 29, 2020: Can a Sitting President Be Indicted? May 6, 2020: Presidential Use and Abuse of Privileges. May 13, 2020: The Pardon Power and its Limits. May 20, 2020: Presidential Lies and Cover-Ups. Dear Peer Learners,
I hope you are all remaining well and strong during this heart-breaking crisis. And, to those who normally celebrate your religious traditions at this time of year, may you have a blessed holiday that brings comfort even in loneliness. At this time of year, Peer Learning should be looking toward our spring activities. However, it seems clear that we must stay at home for the immediate future and that means that all Peer Learning activities must continue to be cancelled. Exactly how and when we will be able to resume classes and luncheons is still unknown. Meanwhile, I would like to hear your comments, questions or suggestions. As soon as it is safe to do so, we will try to have a Peer Learning Board meeting to plan our future but it seems doubtful that this will happen very soon. Some of my own activities are now being offered by electronic means. Is this something that you would like Peer Learning to explore? I would also like to bring to your attention the many scams that are being practiced by unscrupulous people. I have heard that some folks have received calls, emails or letters offering virus tests or treatments. While I haven't received any of these particular messages, I have had an unusual number of calls offering to refinance my house or car or renew my insurance. All of these messages have been false. If you receive a similar call, hang up immediately or delete the email without following any links. Above all, do not fall prey to those criminals who call or email you asking you to purchase gift cards to pay some imagined fine or dept. These are all scams. Until we are able to meet again in person, please stay healthy and keep safe. Sally |
